Zack Snyder Explains Doomsday’s Inclusion In ‘Batman V Superman’

Doomsday is a villain that DC fans have been aching to see on the big screen for awhile. Doomsday, for those that don’t know, was made famous for being the only person who was able to defeat and kill the Man of Steel in the story arc The Death of Superman published in 1992.

The villain was heavily rumored throughout production of Batman v Superman as being the main baddie that would bring together the likes of Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman to face him. When Doomsday was officially revealed to be the very thing he was rumored to be in the most recent trailer, some fans didn’t appreciate the reveal and even went as far to say that the film had “no more surprises” and was “ruined”. Zack Snyder, while in an interview with Empire Magazine, spoke about the inclusion of Doomsday and why he’s such a perfect fit to go up against our heroes in the film.

“To go up against heroes like Batman and Superman, we wanted to introduce one of the DC Universe’s most iconic and powerful villains. He is essentially an unstoppable force. He poses a real threat to the world within the film.”

In the interview Snyder also hinted that Lex Luthor might have something to do with why Wonder Woman comes into the mix.

“You learn pretty early on that Lex is interested in metahuman existence and that there might be some relationship between that investigation and the appearance of Diana Prince.”

Sounds like maybe Lex has been monitoring Diana for awhile now. We know she’s been around for quite some time, considering her upcoming film takes place partially during World War I. If he has an interest in metas then that also might mean he knows about the existence of The Flash, and others not mentioned yet. I’m expecting tons of Easter eggs!

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice:“Following his titanic struggle against General Zod, Metropolis has been razed to the ground and Superman is the most controversial figure in the world. While for many he is still an emblem of hope, a growing number of people consider him a threat to humanity, seeking justice for the chaos he has brought to Earth. As far as Bruce Wayne is concerned, Superman is clearly a danger to society. He fears for the future of the world with such a reckless power left ungoverned, and so he dons his mask and cape to right Superman’s wrongs. The rivalry between them is furious, fueled by bitterness and vengeance, and nothing can dissuade them from waging this war.

However, a dark new threat arises in the form of a third man: one who has a power greater than either of them to endanger the world and cause total destruction.

Officially two months left! Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice comes out March 25th, 2016!
