Jamie Alexander On The Differences Of Marvel & DC

Back when DC was still casting for the role of Wonder Woman for the DCEU, Marvel’s very own Jamie Alexander was among the many on the list to play the Amazonian Warrior. Though we now know the role went to Gal Gadot, who will be making her debut in next month’s Batman v Superman and making a return in her very own solo film next year, there was a time when Jamie was going to be considered. In a recent interview with Variety, Alexander was asked if she was disappointed with the loss of the role and gave the following response.

“Not at all. I’m excited to see what Gal Gadot’s going to do with the role. I was one of a few people that were an obvious choice for Wonder Woman, but it was never going to happen. I’m contracted with Marvel and it would (be) strange.”
She went on explaining how Sif acts as Marvel’s own Wonder Woman.
“Sif, in her way, is Marvel’s Wonder Woman. They’re both ethereal and have armor and a sword, and have special abilities; the physicality of the role is very similar. The thing I really enjoy about Marvel is that they start with a character first and all the explosions and costumes, the glitz and glam, are secondary to who the actual character is deep down. That’s something I haven’t really been able to find with DC Comics. I know that’s a bold statement, but it’s been my experience.”
Alexander has become a fan favorite in the MCU, even appearing on a couple of episodes of ABC’s Agents of Shield. She is rumored to be making a return to the MCU in Thor’s third installment Ragnarok. You can also catch her on Blindspot on ABC, which will be returning February 29 at 10/9c.
