‘Aquaman’ Director James Wan Teases Atlantis And Monsters

Thanks to the character’s brief debut in the current blockbuster film, Batman v Superman fans have finally gotten a live action glimpse of Jason Momoa as Arthur Curry/Aquaman. Although the shot is dark and hard to see, we get a look at the trident in action, some of the tribal tatoos, and more in clearer quality than before.

With the character currently in the spotlight, fans have grown a new anticipation for his 2018 solo film, directed by James Wan. Famous for the Conjuring movies and his direction on Furious 7, Wan is expected to create a new take on Curry personally, and, as we’ve already seen, style.

When asked to shed some light on his version of Aquaman and how he is gearing up to helm the film, the director said,

“I think, like most people, we are familiar with Aquaman. We grew up reading or watching this character on the peripheral. I was never so in depth with Aquaman as, let’s say, I was with X-Men. I grew up loving X-Men, Spider-Man and Batman. Those are obviously the key big ones, but there’s always something kind of cool about Aquaman still, the idea of creating a huge world that is on our planet. That’s the thing about Aquaman that’s cool is he’s not an alien, right? He’s from our planet and he’s from a society that we’re not privy to in the context of the story. Isn’t it crazy to think that we’ve explored space more than we have explored the depths of our ocean? That just fires up my imagination about potential sea monsters and cool creatures, that kind of stuff.”

Hopefully some concept art will be released soon, one thing many fans (including myself) have been anticipating for a while is seeing Atlantis on the big screen and the wonders it holds.
