Arrow, Flash, and Legends All to Return

For any avid comic book junkie, with a special emphasis on the Detective Comics side of the world, the CW has become home to some of the most dedicated viewing. With shows like Arrow redefining the way a dark and gritty feel can translate to small screen, and Legends of Tomorrow showing that the big budget team up like The Avengers is also possible on the small scale. Those same fans will be ecstatic to discover that all four of the DC properties currently on air with the CW have been renewed.
Arrow, starring Stephen Amell, follows Oliver Queen as he dons the green hood to rid his city of the crime and corruption his father turned him on to. While he defends his city, he begins to discover just how deep his own family and friends are rooted in the very degradation he is fighting against. With the help of fellow crusaders, Katie Cassidy, David Ramsey, and Emily Bett Rickards, Oliver Queen embarks on a journey to become, The Green Arrow. Arrow has been renewed for it’s fifth season, as season one through three are available on Netflix.
The Flash is DC’s fastest man alive, and Barry Allen will need every ounce of speed he can muster to take on the army of meta-humans created by a particle accelerator explosion, the very same explosion that gave Allen his ability to tap into the speed force. While he reaches deep to become faster and faster, his adopted father, Detective Joe West, and the team at S.T.A.R. Labs will stop at nothing to keep Central City safe. The Flash stars Grant Gustin as The Scarlet Speedster, Candice Patton, Danielle Panabaker, and Jesse L. Martin and has been renewed for the third season. Season one is available on Netflix.
Legends of Tomorrow is a collection of heroes, villains, cameos, and nods to the previous two shows as a group of men and women with special talents are brought together by Time Master Rip Hunter to travel through time to track down and destroy the immortal tyrant Vandal Savage. Along the way, they discover just how fragile the timeline is, and how easily they could destroy themselves and everyone they know in the process. LoT stars Arthur Darvill, Caity Lotz, Victor Garber, and Brandon Routh and has been renewed for it’s second season.
iZombie is a marriage between Psyche and Resident Evil, following Liv Moore, a promising medical student who turns into a zombie after an ill-fated boat party. As a zombie, she is forced to eat brains to stay alive, and takes on a job at a morgue to have access to a buffet of unneeded craniums. After ingesting the brains, she is given memories of the dead, and uses them to assist Detective Clive Babineaux in solving the crimes which led to her dinner’s demise. This unconventional program stars Rose McIver and Malcolm Goodwin and has been renewed for a third season.
The CW has also renewed the other seven shows on their calendar, including Jane the Virgin, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, Supernatural, The 100, The Vampire Diaries, The Originals, and Reign. With the success of the DC properties on the CW, and Gotham on Fox, and Supergirl being picked up for a second season on CBS, it is a great time to be a comic book fan, not just at the movie theaters, but sitting at home tucked into the couch as well.
