Since it was revealed that Han Solo would be getting his own origin film, it has been widely speculated that this film would include Chewbacca to some extent. Now this speculation has been confirmed, with some exciting additional news as well.
Disney has stated that not only will the film explore how this iconic partnership came to be, but it it will also delve into some of Chewbacca’s origin as well. During the Deutsche Bank 2016 Media, Internet, and Telecom Conference, Disney CEO Bob Iger had this to say:
“…We have others in the works, including one, which is an origin story about Han Solo and Chewy, and that’ll come after ‘Star Wars VIII’ in 2018. And then there will possibly be more thereafter.”
How in-depth this movie will go into each characters’ origin remains uncertain for the time being. Perhaps the studio will choose to go back and forth between the two separately for the first portion of the film, both on missions that cause them to cross paths at a certain point, in which the lifelong friendship and partnership would form.
What do you guys think? Will we see more of Han than Chewie? Would you like to see their origin’s equally explored? Leave your thoughts in the comments!
