Over the weekend, reps at Comic Book had a chat with Geoff Johns, DC’s Chief Creative Officer about DC’s current lineup. Mostly speaking, they spoke about ‘Batman vs. Superman’ considering they were at the premiere event only available to exclusive audiences. One interesting topic that came up though possibly shed some light on the future of seldom-used DC favorite: Booster Gold. Geoff Johns was asked about the future of “Booster Gold”, he gave a pretty diplomatic answer.
“You’ll see [Booster Gold] very soon, and there’s talks about…there’s actually a lot of plans for Booster Gold, one of my favorite characters. But yeah, Booster Gold fans, you will definitely be happy with what we’ve got coming up in the years ahead.”
Notice how he hesitated there. Could that mean “Booster Gold” could be headed to our television screens? Or better yet, could he be heading to the silver screen?! Johns, once a writer for the fan favorite, declined to elaborate on his comment. There have been rumors that there’s a movie in the works at Warner Brothers and it’s started to pick up traction in the rumor mill. Earlier this week, Nathan Fillion made his intentions known about wanting to play “Booster Gold”. A couple of days before that, several comic book news sites reported that the supposed movie in question could be a team up between “Booster Gold” and “Blue Beetle”! Although his comic book life was pretty short (49 issues and a couple of guest appearances post-New 52), he’s still well regarded in the DC community. Only time (and more rumors) will tell if we get to see the hero.
