Ever since Avengers: Age of Ultron introduced The Vision and Scarlett Witch/Wanda Maximoff and the two became part of the new Avengers team, fans have been wondering if their romance from the comics would be brought to the big screen. Now, in the comics Scarlett Witch is an X-Woman which means she got her telepathic and telekinetic powers from a mutated gene, but in the MCU she got them from experiments with the Infinity Stone in Loki’s scepter. That Infinity Stone also happens to be ‘powering’ The Vision (in fact, it brought him to life in the first place) so that obviously makes for some sort of connection between the two newcomers.
Here’s what Elizabeth Olsen (Scarlett Witch) told ScreenRant about the matter:
“I think there’s something unique in the fact that her powers come from the same thing that powers him, and that is how we’ve made them have that kind of… that specifically in common, as opposed to it being something else that the comics kind of created, which has been pure romance. But they do have something uniquely special because of that.”
It makes sense to keep away from the romance from the time being, if it were adapted at all. Why? Because the two of them are on opposing teams in the upcoming Captain America: Civil War, which means they’ll be fighting each other. Not necessarily the best basis for a relationship.
Do you guys think the MCU will ever see that romance happening? Let us know in the comments!
Captain America: Civil War hits theaters May 6, 2016.
