Even as we count down to ‘Daredevil’, people are still talking about the controversial casting of Iron Fist. ‘Game of Thrones’ fan favorite Finn Jones landed the role and it had quite a mixed response. Some thought the casting was spot on due to his clear acting skills from the show and his ability to play someone in a higher class (which is ‘Iron Fists’ origin) who gains mystical powers through a journey of soul searching. On the other hand, some thought that, in a show of Marvel’s willingness to diversify, an Asian-American should’ve been casted. What’s done is done though and life moves on.
Yesterday during Daredevil’s season premiere only available to exclusive audiences, Joe Quesada had a few things to say about the members about the new members coming to Netflix soon. Joe Quesada is Marvel’s Chief Creative Officer. When asked if ‘Iron Fist would have the same dark tone as the previous shows, Quesada said: “It still takes place in the same world,” Quesada answered diplomatically. “I think the Danny Rand character himself will have a different perspective on the world than some of the characters that you’re seeing now — as will Luke Cage. I mean you guys haven’t seen that show yet, either.” This might come as surprise to some Marvel fans since ‘Iron Fist has a dramatically different backstory than the other shows set to team up in the ‘Defenders’ series after the conclusion of these shows.
Real diplomatic. Marvel audiences are aware of the Netflix deal with Marvel and it’s upcoming schedule. ‘Daredevil’ comes out with its second season this Friday, March 18th. ‘Luke Cage’, the standout of Marvel’s latest show ‘Jessica Jones’, will be released near the end of 2016. As for ‘Iron Fist, we’re still awaiting dates from Marvel.
