Both The Flash and Aquaman solo films have been confirmed to continue the Justice League story. This may be a nod towards a Flashpoint Paradox movie, but whichever comic of inspiration Snyder & Co. choose, DC is proving to differentiate itself from their successful counterpart, Marvel. Unlike the MCU’s phase 1 lineup consisting of standalone films that progressed to the Avengers, Warner Bros. is doing just the opposite.
We also received news on the Oscar winning writer Chris Terrio and his approach to the DCEU (or DCCU). If any of you have watched Argo, you are aware that Terrio dedicates a lot of time to research before penning a story. And WB producer Charles Roven expanded on that saying:
“He studied red and blue shifts in electromagnetic physics to think about the Flash…Investigated deep sea biology in the Mariana trench to create the world of Aquaman, and read the Greek historian Diodorus of Sicily’s account of the war between Amazon and Atlantis to better understand Wonder Woman.
Again, this could very well be a hint at a Flashpoint Paradox story-line, or the widely speculated Throne of Atlantis arc that many claim to be the inspiration for the Justice League films. Whichever the case, fans should be ecstatic with the news of a JLA film approaching next year. What a great future we have for comic book movies!
