In a recent interview with BuzzFeed, Zack Snyder spoke out about the controversial ending of the recent DC Film, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. The rest of this article will contain SPOILERS so be sure to not read on until you have seen the movie.
At the end of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Superman is killed by Doomsday and according to Snyder, the Man of Steel was always going to bite the dust by the end of the long awaited sequel.
Snyder: “I felt it was inevitable, even when we were working on Man of Steel, I was like, Gosh, what are we going to do with this guy? He’s a pretty tough cookie.”
Interesting that Superman was always planned to fall in this film, it makes you wonder what the direction Zack Snyder plans to take the DCEU.
Snyder didn’t stop with revealing the plan for Superman he also admitted that he was surprised the fans didn’t predict the ending of the film!
Snyder: “I was shocked that people did not immediately jump to the conclusion,” said Snyder. “I think they just felt like, ‘That’s impossible. They’re not going to kill Superman.’ I mean, a couple people did [figure it out], but then they were all yelled at. It was funny.”
The death of Superman was a shocking ending to me and many others and I personally found the death too soon for the DCEU for a character we haven’t had time to get to know in this universe.
