Almost a year ago it was revealed that Warner Bros. and DC gave the “ok” for the iconic animated film adaptation of Batman: The Killing Joke to be Rated-R. Now it’s been officially announced that the animated film will indeed be Rated-R! Check out the official statement from president of Warner Brothers Sam Register on the announcement.
“From the start of production, we encouraged producer Bruce Timm and our team at Warner Bros. Animation to remain faithful to the original story – regardless of the eventual MPAA rating, The Killing Joke is revered by the fans, particularly for it’s blunt, often-shocking adult themes and situations. We felt it was our responsibility to present our core audience- the comics-loving community – with an animated film that authentically represented the tale the know all too well.”
Aside from the fact that The Killing Joke will screen at San Diego Comic-Con this year, the film currently is without a solid release date.
Batman: The Killing Joke is slated for release in 2016.
