Daniel Bruhl Talks Baron Zemo In ‘Civil War’

Fans who have been following Civil War for a while know that Daniel Bruhl has been cast as Baron Zemo, a nemesis of Captain America’s. Although this is old news by now, little to nothing is known about the character in the movie, apart from mild interview pieces, and a set photo of Bruhl out of costume. There is an imminent threat lurking behind the shadows of the Civil War going on, but casual fans are completely unaware of this.

Revealing that he is under very strict orders from Marvel not to say anything about his character specifically, Bruhl has recently spoken on this. He said,

“I was really told not to because there are so many secrets in the film. And also my character’s quite mysterious, so I’m really scared to say too much. The things I’ve mentioned in interviews before were already too much – and I thought it was nothing!”

As if there was any doubt that Bruhl’s character played an essential, spoilery part of the movie, well, now it’s gone. He cleary was handed a pivotal piece to the story, and in time we’ll know why. But for now, the actor confirms a few more small bits on the character, but nothing remotely huge.

“Yes, but what I like is it’s not a stereotype. It’s not a guy who’s mean and sinister, but he’s actually very clever – a very smart guy who does everything out of a very understandable reason and motivation.”

And he finishes with a minor slip,

“Some of the things that happen in the film, and why they happen, are because of him. He is orchestrating things that happen throughout the film. I think that’s something I can say, goddam it!”

So, what are your predictions? What kind of no good do you think Zemo is up to? Let us know in the comments below!
