Looking back on the buildup towards ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past” a couple of years ago, it was mentioned that both Patrick Stewart and James McAvoy would be appearing in the movie. Fans were confused since Patrick Stewart played Professor X in the initial X-Men trilogy and James played the same role in the current trilogy. Fans tested their faith and Fox Studios delivered on a fantastic movie that’s been called the best X-Men movie to date. Now that the upcoming X-Men movie features a younger X-Men team from the days of old, could we also see their older counterparts? Famke Janssen hopes so and wasn’t exactly subtle about it:
“And it’s not the first time, obviously, that it’s happened. In the X-Men series, they’ve been doing this for years. Although women, it’s interesting because they’re replaced, and the older versions – or more mature, whatever the politically correct version of that is – are never to be seen again. Whereas the men are allowed to be both ages. Sexism. I think that I should be back along with my younger version and the way that we’ve seen it with Magneto and Professor X.”
She also confirms she’s talked with the actress replacing her role, Sophie Turner:
“She emailed me before she started filming wanting some pointers. And I said, ‘You don’t need any. You’re perfect. You’re great.’ So I can’t wait to see the movie and what she’s done with it. I’m actually really excited about it.”
Will we see the Jean Grey of old in action? What do you guys think?
X-Men Apocalypse features James McAvoy as Charles Xavier, Micheal Fassbender as Magneto, Oscar Isaac as Apocalypse, Sophie Turner as Jean Grey, Tye Sheridan as Cyclops, Alexandra Shipp as Storm, Kodi Smit-McPhee as Nightcrawler, Lana Condor as Jubilee, and Ben Hardy as Angel.
