One of the major complains critics had after viewing Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, was that the film was too dark, and didn’t have enough jokes. Then, last week, rumors began circling around the internet that Suicide Squad – the next film in DC’s Cinematic Universe, was about to go under reshoots to “add more humor” to the film because there wasn’t enough, and that all the film’s jokes were shown in the trailers. Captain Boomerang actor Jai Courtney has confirmed that there will indeed be additional scenes shot for the upcoming supervillain blockbuster, but they’re not for what was initially reported. When the Aussie actor was asked if the reshoots were to add more humor to the film he had this to say:
“I wouldn’t say we’re going back to make it funnier, there’s some additional action stuff that we’ve been doing, which is pretty dope. Yeah, really we’re just kinda adding in that sense.”
You can check out the rest of the interview below. Films go through reshoots all the time, so maybe now (hopefully) we can put to rest the whole rumor of BvS being so dark that WB is looking to add more humor to their other films.
Don’t forget, NEW Suicide Squad footage is set to premiere at the MTV Movie Awards on April 10th!
Suicide Squad: It feels good to be bad…Assemble a team of the world’s most dangerous, incarcerated Super Villains, provide them with the most powerful arsenal at the government’s disposal, and send them off on a mission to defeat an enigmatic, insuperable entity. U.S. intelligence officer Amanda Waller has determined only a secretly convened group of disparate, despicable individuals with next to nothing to lose will do. However, once they realize they weren’t picked to succeed but chosen to their patent culpability when they inevitably fail, will the Suicide Squad resolve to die trying, or decide it’s every man for himself?
