Last year at San Diego Comic-Con, its was reported that DC Comics Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns would be working alongside new Batman actor Ben Affleck, to come up with a script for the upcoming solo Batman flick, and that it would be taking elements from the iconic Batman story “A Death In The Family”. While the latter half of the rumor has yet to be confirmed, comic guru Kevin Smith confirmed on his podcast Fat Man on Batman that Geoff Johns confirmed to him that the pair were indeed working on a solo Bat script. You can read his comments below.
“He’s been working on a solo script with Geoff Johns as well. Last conversation I had with Geoff Johns I was like yeah are you working on it? And he said ‘yeah’. I said what’s it like man, how do you co-write e with someone? And he’s going ‘we just break it up, he takes halves and I take halves and then we write, and then we switch material, and them he goes over mine and I go over his.'”
This is exciting news not just for DC fans, but for comic fans in general. You’ve got two of the best in the business (aside from Paul Dini) working on a Batman film. Ben Affleck’s Batman has been the one of the elements in Batman v Superman that pretty much everyone agrees was amazing. Geoff Johns is one of the most knowledgeable people when it comes to DC Comics and having him work on a live-action film is a dream come true for a lot of people. Ben Affleck has won an Oscar for his writing in 1998 for Good Will Hunting, and has also won Best Picture of the Year for the film Argo which he directed. It’s unsure if Affleck will direct the Bat film, but Zack Snyder has said that’s he’s defenitly trying to get him to.
