Marvel’s Standalone ‘Spider-Man’ Title Confirmed.

Marvel and Sony’s joint Spider-Man venture now has it’s title confirmed and it is…..’Spider-Man: Homecoming’. The title was confirmed by Spider-Man himself, Tom Holland and chairman of Sony Pictures Entertainment Tom Rothman, at CinemaCon. Rothman had this to say about the title’s double meaning:

“Homecoming obviously is a high school reference. This movie shows the enduring conflicts at Peter Parker’s roots, saving the world and getting your algebra homework done on time…”More than that, for Sony, the film is a homecoming to the Marvel Cinematic universe…It’s something we and all the fans are giddy about.”

Comic readers will recognize the ‘Homecoming’ title from the first introduction of the Venom symbiote. Tom Holland will appear in ‘Captain America; Civil War’ as Spider-Man, in theaters May 6, 2016.

The standalone Spider-Man film is expected to hit theaters July 7, 2017.
