‘New Mutants’ Script Is Making Progress

The New Mutants film is arguably the FOX project we know the least about so far – there’s really nothing more confirmed than the fact that it’s happening. While there was a rumor a few weeks back about Maisie Williams (Game of Thrones), Alexandra Shipp (Storm in X-Men Apocalypse) and Anya Taylor-Joy (The Witch) would be featured in the film, FOX recently debunked it.

Screenwriter and filmmaker Josh Boone, however, revealed via Instagram that him and co-writer Knate Lee have turned a second draft of the movie into producer Simon Kinberg, who previously described New Mutants as very different from other X-Men movies:

“They’re doing a really nice job of it, and it’s a really cool one, because in many ways, like ‘Deadpool’ was so different from the mainline X-Men movies, ‘New Mutants’… It’s maybe not as different as ‘Deadpool’, but it has its own unique, original voice to it.”

FOX also recently released new release date for untitled projects: October 6, 2017, January 12, 2018, and July 13, 2018. Additionally, Deadpool 2 is officially in the works, and while the Gambit project is technically still alive, it has recently been postponed to an unannounced release date, and front runner Channing Tatum has even taken up a role in Kingsman: The Golden Circle.

Next up on the schedule is X-Men: Apocalypse, which hits theaters May 27, 2016.
