Robert Downey Jr. Is Up For Another ‘Iron Man’

As the cast of Captain America: Civil War is touring the world, ABC News released a Nightline special feature focusing on the actor’s respective characters, as well as the film’s biggest fight scene at the airport in Germany. During this special, Robert Downey Jr. drops a line that should make all Marvel fans happy, regardless of whether they’re Team Cap or Team Iron Man:

“I feel like I could do one more [Iron Man film],”  he said.

Wow! This is the first time Downey ever said something in this direction; all his previous comments regarding a fourth Iron Man have been pretty straight forward, saying that he thinks he’s too old to be playing a super hero and that he wants to move on. This, however, is a whole new tone. RDJ is Tony Stark, I think we can all agree on that. Even Anthony Russo recently said that once Downey leaves Marvel, his character would not be seen for a while, simply because of the impact he’s had on it. Note, though, that this by no means confirms an Iron Man 4, it simply opens up the possibility. When such a movie could fit in, is a difficult question, as Phase 3 is pretty packed already. However, there may be room for RDJ after Infinity War (which is when his current contract with Marvel expires).
