Television shows are a great way for lesser known actors and actresses to be discovered and step into the big Hollywood spotlight. Game of Thrones‘ Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark) is a prime example, as she’ll be joining the on-screen X-Men come May as young Jean Grey. And now that FOX Studios is working on the script for the X-Men spinoff The New Mutants, another actress from that same show, namely Maisie Williams (Arya Stark), is rumored to be considered for the role of Rhane Sinclair, a shape-shifting werewolf with a very emotional side to her.
Additionally, The Fault In Our Stars director Josh Boone (who will be directing The New Mutants) is apparently looking at Anya Taylor-Joy, who impressed critics and audiences with her performance in The Witch, to portray Illya Rasputin, aka Magik. However, none of this has been confirmed or denied by FOX.
It’s becoming more and more obvious that the old X-Men era we know, with Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, Patrick Stewart’s Professor X and Ian McKellen’s Magneto is about to end, and that the younger generation we know from X-Men: Days Of Future Past will be expanding and taking over.
