Scarlet Witch Confirmed For ‘Avengers: Infinity War Part 1’

As a part of a Captain America: Civil War press conference, co-director Joe Russo spoke about several of the characters and their roles in the upcoming film. Russo mentioned Scarlet Witch, and spoke on her development as a character for her second appearance on the big screen. He touched on the fact that the young Avenger is only just learning her powers as she learns become to be a hero as a part of Captain America’s team. During the press conference, Russo was quoted in regards to Elizabeth Olsen’s character, saying:

“She is on a growth arc, and it is part of her development. It is very tricky with powerful characters, because unless they have an internal struggle or a flaw that limits them then they do become limitless, and the storytelling becomes muddled and not very interesting.”

However, Russo also dropped a new bit of information in regards to Scarlet Witch: she will premiere in the next ensemble film in the MCU, Avengers: Infinity War Part 1. While the question of who else is to appear alongside her in the upcoming Avengers movie is still up in the air due to what is set to happen in Civil War, we can now expect to see Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlet Witch once more. If Scarlet Witch is only becoming stronger as she learns to control her powers with time, like Joe Russo mentioned, it is possible that by the time she makes her appearance in Infinity War Part 1 we will see a very powerful and improved hero in Scarlet Witch who could potentially be one of the most powerful Avengers.

Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 is set to premiere in theaters on May 4th, 2018.
