Marvel’s phase 3 is steadily approaching, and another potential candidate to direct the phase’s first film has surfaced. According to We Got This Covered, Elizabeth Wood has met with Marvel Studios and could possibly be competing to direct 2018’s Captain Marvel. The source has made the following claim:
“A private meeting was held last week between Marvel representatives and independent filmmaker Elizabeth Wood in order to discuss potential director duties.”
For those scratching their heads when they hear Wood’s name, she is an indie director, who debuted as a director on the film White Girl which highly revered at the Sundance Film Festival and got nominated for the Grand Jury Prize. While nothing is set in stone, the other directors that Marvel has reportedly approached all seem to share the trait of directing independent films so favor doesn’t seem to be leaning in any one direction just yet.
What do you guys think? Do you want to see an indie filmmaker take on a project as large as an MCU movie? Do you have someone in mid you’d rather see at the helm of Captain Marvel? Let us know in the comments as well as on our Twitter and Instagram!
