Greg Berlanti, one of the busiest producers in Hollywood today, is helping produce over six TV shows at one time, including four of the DC TV shows. He is running The Flash, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, Arrow, and Supergirl. Along with the large task of producing these big name comic book shows, he is also producing Blindspot and The Mysteries of Laura on NBC, along with his upcoming new comic book show called Riverdale based off of Archie Comics, which will air on The CW. As if Berlanti did not already have enough on his plate, he recently confirmed his involvement in the upcoming DC film Booster Gold.
Due to Berlanti’s large involvement in every DC television show, he was recently asked in an interview if he would like to transition to the DC Extended Universe and make movies, becoming essentially Kevin Feige, the master mind of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Berlanti replied to this question, saying:
“It’s never even really come up. Peter [Roth, president of Warner Bros. TV] knows how much I love the characters, and I like being part of this universe in any way that they’ll all allow and are interested in me being a part. That’s the truth. I’m attached to new films now, and one, Booster Gold, is a DC property. Zack Stentz, who wrote an episode of Flash last year, just got the job, so he’s writing the script now. I’d probably direct that, or I would want to.
While Greg Berlanti has helped in producing many of the episodes within the DC TV universe, it sounds like he prefers to take the helm of this film and direct it. Berlanti was a producer for the 2011 Green Lantern film, but Booster Gold will be his first film in the DC Extended Universe, which has yet to set a date for release.
