Is Rick Famuyiwa In Line To Direct An Upcoming DC Film?

Ever since the departure of Seth Grahame Smith, fans have been debating on who would take over directorial duties on the upcoming Flash film. Names like Edgar Wright, Matthew Vaughn, and most recently Joss Whedon have been thrown into the hat of possible directors to take over the project. However, Rick Famuyiwa might be closer to landing the gig than any of the directors listed above. Hot off the success of Dope, Batman-News has pointed out the fact that he’s recently followed the Twitter accounts of multiple people involved with DC Comics, including long time Flash writer Mark Waid. The accounts were followed as listed: DC Comics, Geoff Johns, Wonder Woman, Gal Gadot, Suicide Squad, Zack Snyder, Ben Affleck, Ray Fisher, and Jason Momoa.

While the following of these accounts doesn’t necessarily mean that he’s landed a job at DC Films, it might indicate that the director has met with the studio in hopes of landing an opportunity to direct one of the many upcoming DC Comic projects. ComicBook has mentioned that since most of Rick Famuyiwa’s films have focused on the “African-American experience” that he might be circling the Cyborg film. We’re still a ways away from its current April 3rd, 2020 release date, but it might be wise to latch a director on now, rather than later. So what do you think? Is Rick Famuyiwa about to hop on the DC Films train, or is this all a bunch of reaching? Let us know what you think in the comment section below.
