Jared Leto Says Playing The Joker Was The Most Fun He’s Ever Had In A Film

This August’s Suicide Squad, the third installment in the DC Extended Universe, is among the most anticipated comic book movies of the year, and part of that hype certainly comes from Jared Leto’s portrayal of the Joker.

As there are truly gigantic expectations for this role, one could expect Leto to be stressed about it. After all, Heath Ledger gave one of the best performances in movie history as the iconic Batman villain in 2008’s The Dark Knight. However, Leto says it was actually a lot of fun for him.

“I got the call and was invited to play The Joker, which was terrifying and exciting and an honor,” he said. “It was really the most fun I’ve ever had on a film in my life; I had a blast. It was a real honor to get asked to play the part. These characters are so special to people and I have a lot of respect for that.”

Countless interviews with co-actors and Leto himself have proven that he stayed in his role the entire time and played weird and scary pranks on everyone else – all with the purpose of making his on screen performance more authentic. You can check out the full interview below (the Joker remarks will be around the two minute mark):
