Marvel Cinematic Universe Makes $10 Billion At Worldwide Box Office

Since the beginning of the Marvel Cinematic Universe with the introduction of Iron Man in 2008, Marvel superhero movies have taken the box office by storm. Each movie Disney adds to the impressive ensemble of blockbusters only adds millions of dollars to the steady rising profit. With Captain America: Civil War arriving in theaters only two weeks ago, it had already made over $940 million worldwide, and will likely pass $1 billion very soon, joining Avengers, Avengers: Age of Ultron, and Iron Man 3 as films to accomplish this feat. Thanks to the success of Civil War, all of the MCU films have accumulated to produce $10 billion at the worldwide box office.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe comprises of thirteen films, all of which have been successes at the box office. Even the worst films, which may be considered “flops” by some, made millions of dollars and would be considered box office successes. Below are the thirteen MCU films, ranked from most profitable to least profitable in the worldwide box office.

Avengers = $1,519,557,910
Avengers: Age Of Ultron = $1,405,413,868
Iron Man 3 = $1,215,439,994
Captain America: Civil War = $940,892,078
Guardians Of The Galaxy = $773,312,399
Captain America: The Winter Soldier = $714,421,503
Thor: The Dark World = $644,602,516
Iron Man 2 = $623,933,331
Iron Man = $585,174,222
AntMan = $519,445,163
Thor = $449,326,618
Captain America: The First Avenger = $370,569,774
The Incredible Hulk = $263,427,551

Even after producing thirteen films in only eight years, Marvel Studios is showing no signs of slowing down. With Civil War commencing phase three, there are still several films to be released within the next few years, with even more films following the third phase for years to come. With the Marvel Cinematic Universe exponentially raising the popularity of superhero films and Disney Studios making billions of dollars in a matter of several years, no signs are being shown of discontinuing the vastly expanding and profitable MCU any time soon.
