Marvel has officially announced some new cast members of Thor: Ragnarok as well as releasing some brand new concept art.
Marvel studios has confirmed that the upcoming Thor sequel has added the following actors: Cate Blanchett (Cinderella) as the mysterious villain ‘Hela’, Jeff Goldblum ( Jurassic Park) as ‘The Grandmaster’, Tessa Thompson (Creed) as the hero ‘Valkyrie’ and Karl Urban (The Lord of The Rings: The Return of The King) as ‘Skurge’.
Actors reprising their roles include Tom Hiddleston as ‘Loki’, Sir Anthony Hopkins as ‘Odin’, Idris Elba as gatekeeper ‘Heimdall’ and a newcomer to the ‘Thor’ franchise but not unfamiliar to fans, Mark Ruffalo as ‘Bruce Banner/The Hulk’!
Kevin Feige had the following to say about the new additions to the cast:
“The continuation of the epic Thor franchise will be powerful and unique, and with the additions of Cate, Jeff, Tessa, Karl, and Mark to the cast we have the makings of his most dangerous and heroic adventure yet. The sheer, raw talent each of these actors brings to the screen can’t be quantified. Having any one of them join the Marvel Cinematic Universe would be an honor, and having all of them is incredible.”
Ever since the ending of Thor: The Dark World’, which showed Loki impersonating Odin on the throne of Asgard, fans have been questioning whether or not Odin is still alive. This latest announcement seems to prove that he is indeed alive but his whereabouts is unknown. Fans will have to wait until July 28th 2017 to know for sure.
Marvel has been adding more and more of these incredibly talented actors to it’s movies over the years, and this continues with the likes of Cate Blanchett, Jeff Goldblum and the others mentioned above. Recently Avengers: Infinty War directors Joe and Anthony Russo stated that there will be characters in those movies that haven’t been introduced into the MCU yet. Given the scale of Thanos’ threat, could new heroes such as Valkyrie show up in Avengers 3 & 4?
As well as the new casting announcments Marvel also released some incredible new concept art for the movie showing the asgardian army on the Bifrost…
