Olivia Munn Was Offered A Role In ‘Deadpool’, Here’s Why She Turned It Down

Olivia Munn is probably best known among comic book fans for her upcoming portrayal of Psylocke in this month’s X-Men: Apocalypse. However, she was almost cast in Deadpool which came out in February, as Wade Wilson’s girlfriend and motivation to be a “hero”, Vanessa.

When asked by American Way Magazine why she turned down the chance of being kissed by Ryan Reynolds, she said that that’s precisely what she did not want:

“Munn says she didn’t want to be the girlfriend. Not again. She wanted to fight. To make noise. To kick butt.”

Which is why, when talking to FOX about playing Psylocke, she made sure that that’s what her character would be doing.

“I said, ‘Is there a fight scene?'”

Pretty straight forward. But the trailers we’ve seen seem to be a clear indication that Psylocke is going to be swinging her sword more than talking; congratulations, Mrs. Munn.

You can see Psylocke in action when X-Men: Apocalypse hits theaters this month, on May 27.
