Spider-Man: Homecoming Has More Than One Villian

Assuming everyone’s already watched the blockbuster hit Captain America: Civil War already, it’s safe to say:

  1. Tom Holland is the best portrayal of the character we’ve seen to date.
  2. Marvel can do no wrong regardless of character.
  3. This version of Peter Parker/Spider-Man is going to go deep into his comic book roots.

The title the movie was recently revealed and it’s pretty controversial and is a blatant welcome-home message to the fans. Our friendly neighborhood Spider-Man has entered the fray and in a pretty big way. He had a larger role than we assumed in the movie and fans got to see a pretty good first look at a character we should be seeing for a long time. Fans (myself included) have been chomping at the bit for some news regarding the movie and so far, minor castings have been announced. We’ve also heard rumors about the potential villain coming up in the movie (The Vulture) and that star Micheal Keaton was in talks to play the role. Unfortunately, those talks fell through due to Keaton’s unwillingness to become part of a franchise that only signs actors to multi-picture deals. Since then we’ve been left in the dark but a huge piece of news came up this morning, courtesy of Joblo:

“So, you’ll recall the rumor that The Vulture would appear in SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING and that talks with Michael Keaton to play the character eventually fell through. Well, we can confirm that not only is The Vulture in the film, but he is, in fact, the main villain. But, he’s not the only bad guy in the mix. The Vulture will be aided by none other than The Tinkerer, who will help him build his suit with recovered Chitauri tech from the Battle of New York. And speaking of suits…Although we’ve already seen Spider-Man’s new duds in CIVIL WAR, there will be some upgrades for HOMECOMING. We already know that Tony Stark will feature in the film and it appears he’ll be in more of a mentor role than anything, while supplying him with modifications to his suit. What kind of modifications? Well, if you stuck it out for the end credits of Civil War you got to see Peter Parker discover Stark’s costume Easter Egg for the web shooters that also featured Spidey’s signature signal light. Well, it looks like we’ll be seeing more old-school signature Spidey features, as Stark will also be supplying the classic Web Wings from the comics that will be able to deploy as needed. So, it appears Spider-Man is going back to his Stan Lee/Steve Ditko roots and that is pretty badass.”

This is great news because not only do we get more than one villain, we have an MCU-involved story. Plot holes will be avoided and building Vulture’s suit (known to be built by the same corporation that formed the Sinister Six) is explained in the movie. Are you guys excited for the 2017 release yet?!
