Earlier this month rumors started churning that Supergirl might be moving to the CW after it’s first season ended and there was no news of a season renewal from CBS. The show cost about $3 million an episode to make, and with a roller coaster of ratings throughout the season it’d be no surprise for CBS to pass on renewing Supergirl on their network, and that’s exactly what happened.
Warner Bros. TV announced today that the show will be flying over to the CW to join the rest of the DCTV(except for Gotham). Though not part of the announcement, it’s assumed that the show will be melded together with Arrow, Legends of Tomorrow, and The Flash through some type of Flashpoint or Crisis like event. The storytelling possibilities that have sprouted from this move will certainly get a lot of fans excited for season 2. Filming will take place in Vancouver, Canada and though at first it appeared some cast members might not be returning due to budget cuts, it seems everyone will be reprising their roles for the second season.
Supergirl stars Melissa Benoist as Kara Zor-El/Supergirl, Chyler Leigh as Alex Danvers, David Harewood as J’onn J’onzz/Martian Manhunter, Mehcad Brooks as James Olsen, Calista Flockhart as Cat Grant and Jeremy Jordan as Winn Schott.
