Benedict Wong Comments On The Twist To His ‘Doctor Strange’ Role

Benedict Wong, who will be playing Wong in this November’s Doctor Strange has opened up about his part in the movie. In the comics, Wong is Stephen Strange’s servant, who is known for being a great fighter.

Actor Benedict Wong was handed the part a while ago, however he hasn’t yet commented on the role specific to the movie. Den Of Geek recently spoke with the actor, asking for clear details on the part. The actor stated,

“I’m certainly not going to be the tea-making manservant. We’re heading in a different direction,” the actor says. “There isn’t any martial arts for Wong in Doctor Strange actually, he’s more of a drill sergeant to Kamar-Taj. He’s one of the masters of sorcery.”

When Tilda Swinton was cast as The Ancient One for the movie, many expected that the film would offer several other new takes on classic characters. Wong being a sorcerer is an entirely new direction that will be interesting to see.

What are your guys’ thoughts? Do you think this new direction on Wong will benefit the story? Leave a comment below!
