Brie Larson Rumored To Be Frontrunner For ‘Captain Marvel’

As Captain Marvel is set to be introduced into the Marvel Cinematic Universe within several years, possibly with an Infinity War film, along with a solo film to follow, Marvel has begun negotiating with actresses to play Carol Danvers. Among these includes Oscar-winning actress Brie Larson, who has been reported to be nearing an agreement with Marvel Studios. According to the report by, Marvel is wanting Larson and Larson is “leaning” towards accepting the role.

Captain Marvel has been a strong hero in the history of Marvel comics, so her introduction into the Marvel Cinematic Universe will be important as she will likely become one of the more important characters in the following years. Captain Marvel will be the MCU’s first film led by a female superhero, so viewers will be holding the film to high expectations. Brie Larson has proved in her young acting career that she has the excellent acting ability, the looks, and personality to be a good fit in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as a powerful female hero.

Marvel has yet to release many details in regards Captain Marvel yet as we slowly near the 2019 release, but Brie Larson portraying the titular hero would add yet another award-winner to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The young actress recently won her first Oscar for her performance in Room, which has increased her popularity among movie-goers. While Meg LaFauve and Nicole Perlman are currently writing the script for the film, a director has yet to be chosen. However, rumors have arisen regarding who will helm the film, which include Niki Caro, Jennifer Kent, among others.

Marvel has yet to announce when Captain Marvel will make her first appearance in the MCU, but the Captain Marvel solo film will follow soon after and be released in 2019.
