Cinemax Developing ‘Scarlet’ for TV Series

No, not Scarlet Witch. Scarlet is a comic released by Icon Comics in 2010. For those of you who don’t know Icon comics, it’s a subsidy of Marvel comics whose target audience is a bit older than the usual. While the industry hasn’t taken off as it hypothesized at its time of inception, there have been some successful titles that have also made it to the big screen. Some of these titles are The Secret Service and Kick-Ass, which got 2 movies. The comic Scarlet is based around a girl named Scarlet Rue, born in Oregon with a rebellious personality. Fans who read the comic are quick to compare the tone to that of The Punisher because of its intense violence but with political incorporations as well. Writer and Co-creator of the character, Brian Micheal Bendis, leaked the news to Deadline that it was being developed as a series at Cinemax. Bendis also elaborates the show is still at its earliest stages and a team will be announced soon. Fans of Marvel TV could look forward to some fresh material on their screens after the success of Agents of SHIELD, Daredevil, and Jessica Jones along with upcoming shows to be released on television and streaming services worldwide.
