Binge watchers rejoice! A deal between Netflix and the CW is allowing hit CW shows like Arrow, The Flash, Jane the Virgin, and even the newly acquired Supergirl to begin streaming their previous seasons just two weeks after their finales. This is a huge step for the network and for Netflix, as the previous deal only allowed the previous seasons of shows to start streaming on Netflix the day the next season started, putting fans in either a rushed situation or behind again on shows they want to watch.
Previously, the rights to stream episodes so soon belonged to Hulu, but now that the deal is ending between the companies, the CW’s deal current deal with Netflix can commence. Apparently, Hulu was pushing CW to offer full stacking rights on Hulu, but negotiations between the parent companies fell through and discussions stopped.
In season streaming of shows will only be available on the CW website, and through partnered stations’ VOD deals. The deal will more likely be announced later this week. No representative from any party has spoken on the matter yet.
