Captain America: Civil War not only introduced new characters, but also allowed previous characters to develop more, thus becoming much more important to the dynamics of the story. One of these characters includes Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch, who appeared in only one film before Civil War, and throughout the course of the film developed greatly, becoming an integral part of the plot. After Civil War, many fans are curious to see how Scarlet Witch will continue to develop as a hero, becoming more powerful in future films. Her next appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe will presumably be in Infinity War, but Olsen recently stated she would be open to the possibility of a Scarlet Witch film.
During an interview with the Huffington Post, Olsen was asked if she would be on board for a Scarlet Witch solo film, to which she said:
“It’s not something I’m opposed to, but it’s also something that has to make a lot of sense. I wouldn’t just do it just to do it. It’d have to make sense for how it advances in the world. But I’d be open to talking about it. I’d never say no to just an idea.”
Since the premiere of Captain America: Civil War, there has also been attention pointed to the possibility of a Black Widow film, which would be one of the first female-led films of the MCU, including Captain Marvel. While this is still a possibility, it now appears there can still be the slight possibility of another female-led film joining the slate of films in the MCU. If the Scarlet Witch film were to become a real project, fans would not be expecting it until phase five of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as phase four is nearly full with movies set to premiere in the coming years.
