Just a few hours ago, Grant Gustin took to his Twitter account to announce that the first episode of The Flash season 3 is titled Flashpoint.
FLASHPOINT. This is not drill. https://t.co/nzq2NJh9pl

For those of you unfamiliar with the popular Flash storyline:
In Flashpoint Paradox, Barry alters the timeline drastically by going back in time to the day of his mothers murder, and prevents it. When he returns to present day he finds himself without his speed, and the Atlantians and Amazonians in the midst of a brutal battle between each other. Also present in the Flashpoint Paradox is Batman, but not as you know him traditionally. It’s actually Thomas Wayne, Bruce’s father. Instead of his parents dying in the alleyway, it was actually Bruce himself who was killed by Joe Chill.
Enraged by his son’s death, Thomas takes up the mantle of the Caped Crusader, and Martha Wayne goes insane and becomes The Joker. Thomas Wayne a much more brutal Batman and he’s not afraid to use guns or kill. Now actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who has most recently been seen as Thomas Wayne in Batman v Superman, has expressed interest in bringing the Batman persona of Thomas Wayne to life. Check out what he had to say:
“Man, I would love to play that Batman… It would be very cool. Are you f’in insane? Of course I’d be interested.”
Now something that needs to be mentioned, is that when Jeffrey was asked about playing Flashpoint Batman, he mentioned how that was one of the reasons why he signed on to play the Thomas Wayne in Batman v Superman. Zack Snyder told him that the opportunity to play that version of Batman could be on the table in the future of the DCEU.
Now with the announcement that next season of The Flash will be focused on Flashpoint, many fans would automatically assume that the actor is talking about playing Batman on the show, but he’s not. Although it would be cool to see Flashpoint Batman on The Flash, I highly doubt that DC would allow it. I suspect that we’ll see that version of Thomas Wayne much sooner in the movie universe, than we will on the small screen. It might be better for the show if they did a Flashpoint-esque Batman character, but with Green Arrow, since it’s already been established on Earth-2 that Robert Queen, Oliver’s father, is the Green Arrow, so going that route might be a wiser choice.
What do you think? Should Jeffrey Dean Morgan play Batman on The Flash? Or would you rather see Flashpoint Batman in the DC Extended Universe? Let us know in the comment section below or hit us up on Twitter!
