After the somewhat unsuccessful first season of CBS’s Supergirl, it was not surprising when the character would be joining her superhero counterparts on the CW. Now, another massive character is going to enter this universe.
According to producer Andrew Kreisberg, Superman will be appearing in the first two episodes of Season 2. We have already seen a faceless Superman appear on the show, as well as younger versions of the character. Now, we will be getting an actual TV Superman once again. Kreisberg said this during his announcement.
“Greg [Berlanti], Ali [Adler] and I are beyond thrilled to welcome Clark Kent and his slightly-more-famous alter ego to the world of Supergirl. Superman will be appearing in the first two episodes of the new season and we cannot wait to see who next dons the red cape!”
It appears that there has been no one cast yet, but fans are already speculating about who could be our new Superman. With Brandon Routh, who played the Man of Steel in Superman Returns, already a part of this “Arrowverse” as The Atom and the introduction to alternate Earths, we could see Routh playing two superheroes.
Another option is seeing Tom Welling return to the role. Welling famously starred as Clark Kent in CW’s Smallville. He’s a fan favorite and the most likely candidate of returning actors. However, the famous role will most likely be recast.
Supergirl Season 2 will premiere this Fall on the CW and stars Melissa Benoist as the titular character.
