While at Wizard World Philadelphia, Chris Evans (Captain America), Anthony Mackie (Falcon) and Sebastian Stan (Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier) talked about what additions they would like to see made to the Avengers for the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War.
“Looks like it’s time to get back some of those X-Men,” said Stan. “Mystique. We need that Mystique.“
“I’d love to work with [Michael] Fassbender [who plays Magneto] because he’s Fassbender,” Chris Evans added. “Him and [James] McAvoy [who plays Professor X], one of those guys would be great to work with.”
Anthony Mackie also seemed to be all for X-Men, in particular Storm, as he kept repeating the name ‘Halle Berry’, who played the weather controlling mutant in the original X-Men trilogy. You can check out the video (via ComicBook.com) here:
With Spider-Man recently having joined the MCU, there is now a certain possibility that this could actually happen at some point, although probably not in time for Infinity War. When Marvel removed the Inhumans movie, which was planned for Phase 4, from their release schedule, some fans took this as an indication of additional characters joining the MCU who would be getting a solo movie, namely the X-Men or the Fantastic Four.
But assuming Disney and FOX actually worked out a deal for the X-Men to join the Avengers on the big screen, how would this be explained in the then shared universe? The most obvious option would be the soon to be introduced Infinity Gauntlet. The most powerful item in the universe, it can alter space, time and reality according to the will of its bearer. This could be a way to go about introducing the X-Men – they could be brought to Earth from, say, another dimension or an alternate universe (similar to what’s been happening in season two of The Flash).
