For some comic book fans, the villains are just as lovable as the heroes. The man who sits at the top of that list is the Clown Prince of Crime. From appearances in comics, television, video games, and movies, the Joker has gained a following just as big as Batman’s. Recently, Jared Leto spoke to Digital Spy about the popularity of his character:
“The only villain who may be more infamous is the devil.”
It’s interesting for Leto to have used the word “may”, as it sort of implies that the devil isn’t necessarily more infamous. So if he thinks that the two are on the same level, more or less, then does that give any indication a to how his on-screen interpretation will be? If this is his belief, then perhaps we will se a much more sinister and evil Joker than we’ve seen on screen before. From the footage we’ve seen in the trailers thus far, he seems to be taking on a more psychopathic role, which would coincide with those characteristics.
What do you guys think? Is the Joker the most infamous villain? Do you want Leto’s Joker to be the darkest we’ve seen yet? Let us know in the comments as well as on our Twitter and Instagram!
