CW’s Arrow has been all over the place lately. After two mediocre seasons that left a lot of fans in the dust, there have been comments from the cast and crew saying that the show will feel like the first two seasons and even have a feel similar to HBO’s The Wire. This left a lot of current Arrow fans hopeful and intrigued some of Arrow‘s biggest critics. Now Stephen Amell, who plays the titular character, is speaking more about the show returning to its roots. While at the Heroes and Villains Fan Fest in New Jersey, he had this to say.
“The first two episodes [of season 5] refocuses us on what the core mission of the show should be, and that to me is very exciting. Plus? Russia.’
Amell is of course referring to the show’s flashbacks, which are set to take place in Russia this upcoming season. But as an Arrow fan myself, these comments make me hopeful for the future of the show.
In related news, Arrow‘s own David Ramsey talked a bit about a costume upgrade for himself in Season 5.
“Season 5, you will see a Cisco-created new mask for Diggle.”
Ramsey is referring to an Arrow/The Flash crossover last season in which Diggle discussed getting a new mask from Cisco (Carlos Valdes) who works at S.T.A.R. Labs on The Flash. Many fans expected to see this mask by the end of the season, but hopefully it will be worth the wait. Fans bashed the show for using a Magneto-like helmet design for Diggle and that it could be greatly improved upon in Season 5, and hopefully it will be.
Arrow returns Wednesday, October 5 at 8/7c on The CW.
