Lexa Doig Cast As Talia Al Ghul In ‘Arrow’

After a few seasons that fans were less than satisfied with, this fifth season has shown a lot of promise for the rest of the show, and it’s future, Arrow has returned to its season 1 and 2 roots, with Oliver killing again, and having flashbacks of the Bratva, easily one of my favorite of his memories from his time on the island. It’s been almost 10 years since his ‘5 years on the island’, and almost time for his memories from that time to come to an end, opening up the show to some new story lines and characters.

One of the new characters to be featured in Arrow’s next season, is Talia Al Ghul, Nyssa’s (Katrina Law) half sister, who will be played by Lexa Doig. She’d been in a couple horror, was in a Canadian – based show called Andromeda, but is known for her role in Continuum. She will be appearing first in episode 10 of this season, in “Who Are You?” According to The CW’s official description of her character, Talia is “an elite warrior who doesn’t pick sides but rather creates her own.”

Talia has been in the Arrowverse before, but as a child in Legends of Tomorrow last season (played by Milli Wilkinson). We’ve also seen her outside the universe, in Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises. In this version of her, she’ll be an older woman, about the same age as Oliver. We don’t know if she’ll be his new love interest, but since they are around the same age, some are guessing that that’s what we might be saying. Personally, I hope they don’t have a romantic relationship, and we can see the character develop separated from being a love interest.

As Nyssa’s half sister, she will be used to further Nyssa’s story, as Arrow’s executive producer Andrew Kreisberg has said.  “If we ever think of a reason to have a Talia or whatever incarnation we decide to do, it would be in service of furthering Katrina’s story.” This could mean Katrina’s return to the show as well, as she hasn’t been around since season 4.

What do you think? Have you watched anything Doig has been in and like her performance? Are you okay with this casting? What do you hope will happen with her character? Let us know in the comments below, or on Twitter or Instagram!

Arrow is on TV every Wednesday, 8/9 EST on The CW.
