The character of Victor Von Doom has been a major part of many storylines in the Marvel universe. He has been a demonic villain, but also a misunderstood hero. Right now in the comics, he is the ‘Infamous Iron Man’, because he took the mantle of Iron Man without the permission of Tony Stark. Dr. Doom has been mostly associated with the Fantastic Four but has also been a part of many teams.
The creator of Dr. Doom and many other characters, Stan Lee,was recently asked by a young kid who his favorite villain was. He replied, “Dr. Doom” and also shared his interesting perspective of the character.
“Everybody has Doctor Doom misunderstood. Everybody thinks he is a criminal, but all he wants is to rule the world. Now if you really think about it objectively, you could walk up to a policeman, and you could say, ‘Excuse me, officer, I want to tell you something: I want to rule the world.’ He can’t arrest you; it’s not a crime to want to rule the world. So, it’s unfair that he’s considered a villain, because he just wants to rule the world. Then maybe he could do a better job of it. So I’m very interested in Doctor Doom, and I’d like to clear his name.”
Lee also seems to be with Marvel Comics now that Doom is sort of hero, almost in a ‘Superior Spider-Man’-like storyline with the hologram of Tony.
