In the wake of legendary Star Wars actress Carrie Fisher’s sudden death at the age of 60, millions of fans are mourning the loss of the woman that to them will always be Princess Leia Organa.
Fisher joined last year’s launch of a new Star Wars sequel trilogy as General Leia Organa in Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens, a film in which she was present and important to the story but did not get a lot of screen time. According to a recent report from Deadline, though, General Leia will have a larger role in next year’s Episode VIII. The same thing has been said of her daughter, Billie Lourd, who will reprise her role of Lieutenant Connix.
Deadline also reports that there were plans for Leia in the last chapter of the new trilogy, Episode IX. As that film has not yet started shooting, though, they will have time to change the script accordingly.
Rest in peace, Carrie. May the Force be with you.
