‘Logan’ May Have Been Inspired By A Western

The release of Hugh Jackman’s last movie as Wolverine is drawing closer and closer. Recently, the first 40 minutes of the highly anticipated Wolverine film Logan was shown to the press in New York City and received incredible appraise and has hyped up the community. Adding on to the growing excitement, Hugh Jackman, who plays the titular character, recently released a new image from the movie. Check it out here:

In addition to the first 40 minutes of the movie being shown to the press, a booklet of images from the film were also given to those in attendance. IGN recently released this image, which is from the classic 1953 western Shane:

The image hints that director James Mangold may have drawn inspiration from Shane while making Logan, as the last paragraph in the image fits Logan’s journey almost perfectly. Jackman’s character is branded by the sins of his past and has lost all hope of being a hero, and realizes, as stated in the trailer, that “the world is not the same as it was.”
