Rumor: Two Scenes Showcasing Darth Vader Were Cut From ‘Rogue One’

If you’re reading this, then you’ve gone to see Rogue One by now (perhaps if you’re like myself, a couple of times). Regardless of your thoughts on the movie as a whole, Vader has been one of the most beloved parts of this film. Not only is he one of the two live action characters to appear from the original trilogy (the other being the CGI recreation of Carrie Fisher’s Princess Leia), but his scenes definitely stole the show. Seeing him slaughter the group of rebels with less than 5 minutes left of the film was very intense but showed audiences the Sith Lord they deserved. However, some argue that his appearances in the film were a bit scarce. A rumor has recently surfaced that presents two additional scenes having been shot that focus on Vader. The rumor comes from French director Xavier Gens who claims he knows someone who worked on the VFX for Rogue One that shard the information with him, but there is no validation behind it as of yet.

The first scene we’re supposedly to have missed out on is a fight between Darth Vader and Saw Gerrera. the scene would’ve been put in after Saw saved Jyn and would’ve shown Vader giving the rebel his various injuries we see he has sustained when we see him later on in the film. This definitely would’ve been an interesting tidbit to see unfold, however if the rumor is true, it doesn’t seem like the film suffered without the inclusion of the scene.

the other scene said to have been removed is Darth Vader reducing a Jedi temple to rubble. Perhaps the most logical place this would’ve taken place would be on Jedha. This could possibly give a bit more backstory to the city itself and how it became so broken and war-torn. Watching Vader take down something that once stood for so much would be a very powerful scene to watch unfold, but again this is all rumor at this point.

What do you guys think? Would you have wanted to see these scenes in the theatrical cut? Do you hope they only remain rumors? Let us know in the comments as well as on our Twitter and Instagram!
