Donald Glover has had one hell of a 2016. He thrived in his musical career by having a live concert of new unreleased songs called the PHAROS experience that only a few select audience got to witness, released the studio version of some of those songs and made his case for album of the year with Awaken, My Love!, and was cast in both the Marvel franchise and Star Wars franchise. To call his year a massive success would be a big understatement. Last night, he rung in the new year by taking home Best Actor in a Musical/Comedy series from his hit TV show, Atlanta, at the Golden Globes ceremony. Glover was extremely shocked to win the award and was in awe of his massive success. He’s been cast in an unnamed role in July’s Spider-Man: Homecoming and cast as Lando Calrissian, a close friend of the legendary Han Solo, in Solo’s spinoff movie.
Not much has been mentioned about the spin-off considering Rogue One is still basking in the limelight by becoming one of the most popular movies of the already uber successful franchise (deservedly s0). Glover had a few words to say about being cast in the role how much it means to him:
You can watch the full interview below and watch Glover comment on an array of topics ranging from his 2016 to what’s next for Atlanta. News about the spin-off is still scarce considering it’s still set to release in mid-2018 but it has been confirmed that shooting is set to start in February.
