Vin Diesel Still Hoping For Groot-Hulk Fight Scene; Talks ‘Inhumans’ Movie

Last year Vin Diesel finally confirmed the long assumed reports that the Guardians, including Star Lord, Groot, Drax, Gamora and Rocket, would be appearing in next year’s Avengers: Infinity War which is set to film in Scotland at the end of February.

More recently Diesel seemed fairly certain that Groot and Hulk would fight at some point in the MCU…

“I know somewhere in the universe, you’re gonna see Groot and Hulk battle. You can write it down somewhere, you’re gonna see that poster: Groot vs. Hulk.”

Now, in an interview with ScreenRant while promoting his latest film xXx: The Return of Xander Cage, Diesel reiterated his comments and, again, seems fairly certain that Hulk and Groot will throw down in Avengers: Infinity War…

“I’m excited about Baby Groot; he’s just too fun. And in Infinity War, I have to talk to the Russo brothers and find out how this is all gonna go down. I know somewhere in the Marvel universe there is a moment when you will see Groot and Hulk have a few words.”

Diesel continued…

“I think there’s gonna be a moment that we’re all waiting for, and whether you know it or not, you are waiting to see Groot and the Hulk get down.”

As much as we would love to see a fight scene between Diesel’s and Mark Ruffalo’s characters next year, we know very little about the story of the film but there doesn’t seem to be any reason for Groot and Hulk to fight. Marvel knows better than to just throw in a fight scene for the sake of having two characters fight each other. As we carry on through 2017 we will learn more about the story of the film and probably even see a teaser trailer for the film, so as we learn more then it could make more sense for Marvel to include a Hulk-Groot fight scene, but based on the small amount we know so far, it seems unlikely that a fight scene between these two fan favourites would be an epic fanboy moment but unlikely in reality.

No word yet on whether the Guardians will also be included in Avengers 4 in 2019 but it would not come as a surprise.

In the same interview ScreenRant asked Vin Diesel for his thoughts on the fairly recent news that an Inhumans movie, that was previously slated for a 2019 release date, will now be brought to the small screen, to which Diesel replied…

“I think Marvel should never—I don’t think Marvel should abandon their opportunity to make a film out of it. I think it could be a huge, huge saga, and if I had more time I would go over to Marvel and have that very conversation. But I think it would be a big mistake for Marvel to abandon their ambitions or their objective or their goals of making it into a film, because it would make such a cool universe.”

It would certainly be a first if Marvel put out an Inhumans TV show and then follow that up with an Inhumans movie but they have said numerous times, but not yet put into practice, the fact that the television universe and the movie universe were connected. The series is set to be released around the beginning of September.

Avengers: Infinity War hits theatres on May 4th 2018 and you can see ‘Avengers 4’ in theatres on May 3rd 2019!
