‘Alien: Covenant’ And ‘Prometheus’ Connection Revealed In CinemaCon Footage Description

Warning: Major Alien: Covenant Spoilers Ahead!

Since Ridley Scott first conceived the Alien franchise in 1979, originally creating four films, he returned to the franchise with the prequel to AlienPrometheus, in 2012. Since the release of Prometheus, Ridley Scott has decided to make a sequel to his prequel, returning viewers to the Xenomorphs and horror-like feel that made the original films famous which was lacking in Prometheus. Although Alien: Covenant is known to be a sequel to Prometheus and a prequel to the other Alien films, the specific details as to how they are connected remain clouded in mystery.

However, 20th Century Fox recently revealed a new trailer along with never-before-seen footage at the Alien: Covenant panel at CinemaCon, footage which revealed a connection between Prometheus and Covenant. Considering this footage will likely not be revealed to the public, The Wrap released a description of the footage that was shown:

It kicks off with one major reveal: the spacecraft that Elizabeth and David boarded at the end of “Prometheus” did indeed make it to its destination. To greet their incoming guests, hundreds of Engineers are seen gathered in the docking area.

David, who was nothing but a severed robot head by the end of “Prometheus,” is now fully operational in a complete body, and comes out to observe the crowd from a deck on the ship. It’s then that the ship unspools black bombs that cover the entire civilization in a black ooze that melts their bodies.

He continues, “But their power is an illusion. They don’t deserve to start again, and I’m not going to let them.”

This footage description reveals a clear and obvious correlation between both Prometheus and Alien: Covenant, which may be relieving to many fans considering there has been a bit of confusion surrounding whether or not a clear connection would be made in Covenant.

Alien: Covenant is set to arrive in theaters on May 19th.
