‘Alien: Covenant’ To Receive Prequel Written By Ridley Scott

It has been an excellent few years for Alien fans due to the constant news of emerging future projects within the Alien Franchise. When it was first announced that the original 1979 horror film Alien would receive a prequel, fans went crazy to say the least. The first prequel that we received was Prometheus which hit theaters back in 2012. This film raised more questions than it answered amongst fans who were curious how the original Nostromo crew ties into the story, as well as the origins of the infamous alien race known as the Xenomorphs. Fans grew more anxious when it was announced that the Ridley Scott would be directing another installment entitled Alien: Covenant.

During a recent Fandango convention, Ridley Scott was asked if he had any plans for the future of his Alien after the release of Alien: Covenant. He addressed this question without hesitation, saying:

“There will be another one before we kind of literally and logically, clockwise, back into the rear back head of Alien. It will go Prometheus, Awakening, Covenant.. fairly integral where this colonization ship is on the way… If this is successful, and then the next one, and then there will definitely be three more.”

It appears as if Ridley Scott is taking after fellow filmmaker James Cameron, who is currently in the process of making a nearly unreasonable amount of sequels simultaneously for his Avatar franchise. Regardless, it is evident Scott has big plans for his beloved franchise and fans can have much to look forward to.

The first trailer for the film Alien:Covenant was released quite recently that raised a lot of hype amongst the die-hard fans. Ridley Scott recently sat down with Fandango, as well as his Covenant stars Katherine Waterston and Danny McBride to answer a few questions in regards to his planned future installments.

Ridley Scott’s Alien: Covenant arrives in theaters on May 19th.
