James Gunn Confirms ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy 3’ Will Happen; Not Sure If He’ll Direct

Before the release of 2014’s Guardians Of The Galaxy, only avid comic book readers knew who Rocket Raccoon and Groot were. Guardians was an immense success nonetheless, and the sequel is coming to theaters later this year. Now, the director of both films, James Gunn, has confirmed that a third Guardians film will definitely happen, however, he’s not sure if he will be sitting in the director’s chair again.

“There will be a Guardians 3, that’s for sure,” Gunn told Complex. “We’re trying to figure it out. I’m trying to figure out what I want to do really, that’s all it is. I got to figure out where I want to be, what I want to spend the next three years of my life doing. You know, I’m going to make another big movie; is it the Guardians or something else? I’m just going to figure it out over the next couple of weeks.”

It was never really doubted that the Guardians wouldn’t continue to be a part of the MCU but this makes it official. And there’s so much these movies could introduce: Adam Warlock, the Kree, Galactus, maybe even the Silver Surfer…?
