James Gunn On Ego’s Powers In ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2’

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is a little less than two months away, and not a lot is really known about the movie. One of the film’s biggest mysteries is Ego, the Living Planet, played by Kurt Russell. He’s apparently Star-Lord’s father, and he’s been hinted to take on the form of giant living planet in the movie. How is he Star-Lord’s father, and will he become a planet in this film? Director James Gunn talked to Complex about Ego and his powers.

This has to happen in the movie

“Ego is a living planet who is able to manifest himself in different ways.” Gunn explained. “He’s been alone for millions of years and he’s learned how to control the molecules around him in such a way as to create avatars of themselves, such as Kurt Russell. I think Ego was a very lonely character out there by himself and went off in search of love and perhaps found it in Quill’s mother.”

That is very interesting information when it comes to this character. Ego in the comics is able do what James Gunn just said, which is creating different avatars of himself.

Fans are saying that Kurt Russell’s appearance in this movie, is one of Ego’s avatars that the giant planet control. What’s also weird is that avatar most likely is the one that met Star-Lord’s mother. That is very trippy, but it most certainly fits in with the tone of this film.
